The topic of ‘spiritual bypassing’ comes up fairly often in the work we do, particularly as we have students with two different world views which bring polar perspectives on this matter…
There’s those who come to us from a background of traditional therapy, inner child or somatic work who will have understandable resistance to the notion there could be something beyond their experience of themselves as separate beings suffering a painful existence.
And then there’s the folk who have come to us from a spiritual ascension background, often the Three Principles, who feel understandably attached to their sense of themselves as having no separate self to even have a painful existence.
This apparent divide shows up most often and most controversially when it comes to trauma.
What I’ve found is helpful is understanding this through the lens of a shadow pole…
On one end of that pole, there’s a materialist view of “Trauma is a real thing, people are permanently wounded by it, healing is a necessary, slow and arduous task.”
On the other end, there’s a spiritual view of “Trauma doesn’t exist, no-one is ever wounded, nothing needs to be healed.”
Both views have efficacy, *and* if we cling fearfully to either end of the pole, both are limiting.
My own experience, personally and with our students, is that the truth (or at least a powerfully useful, even magical, way of working with trauma) lies *beyond* this shadow pole and looks like this…
1. Trauma often creates patterns of beliefs, thought, behaviour, and feelings that limit, contort and distort humans into living lives that are painful or at best, a pale imitation of what they deeply desire.
2. Seeing the nature of our eternal non-separation and wholeness can liberate us from many of those patterns (that happened for me personally to a nigh on miraculous level.)
3. And the remaining patterns (often the most entrenched and unseen) if we choose to descend into becoming fully intimate with them, can be alchemised into becoming our greatest gifts and potent medicine for ourselves and the world.
We can only do that when we’re able to stop spiritually bypassing those patterns, as hard as that can be when we’ve experienced great freedom and relief at #2, it’s a place that many will understandably want to cling to.
And when our soul is ready, we will move into the deep work of #3 to become who we came here to be.
If that’s what you’re ready for, we have just one space becoming available in the upcoming round of Waking The Wild Sovereign. Click the link for more details, register your interest and we’ll reach out to arrange a call to explore if it’s aligned for you to join this circle of Kings and Queens. ♥️
