our relationships (friendships, romantic relationships, etc.), what that looks like, how it relates to being vulnerable, how flipping difficult it can be and why it’s even a game worth playing. We also share some of our own recent screw-ups and successes (some of which are possibly the same thing)!
What you’ll learn from this episode:
- How those of us who are committed to our growth and doing our work, it can be paradoxically extra challenging to be vulnerable enough to allow other people to make a difference for us. Our tendency can be to take any feedback and then find a way to provide an invulnerable, often glossy or professional response.. which of course, isn’t really doing our work or fuelling our growth.
- If we want this kind of growth of our leadership, we need to consciously create relationships in which we choose into allowing and sharing our impact on each other.
- How to see through the illusion of ‘doing vulnerability’ – any time we’re thinking “Hey! Look at me being vulnerable here!”, we’re almost certainly not! When we’re being truly vulnerable, our attention is usually on the fear or discomfort it typically entails.
- I loved the idea of discovery… instead of knowing the answers or how we typically are, this is about being in an active, in-life, discovery of how we’re showing up, where our edges are and where we fall down.
