Lately, I’ve noticed the same question spontaneously arising for me… what moves us to generate and transform once we feel so deeply relaxed, safe and abundant that fear is no longer the animating force?
I pondered this whilst luxuriating in bed this morning, drinking Assam and looking out over the garden glittering with magpies, geraniums and dew, and the lush fields beyond… just before creating a Shamanic Download.
Then with my eyes closed sitting back against the oak, basking with the beetles in the mellow late sun… just before I helped write our Moonly News ready to go out to our readers for the full Strawberry moon.
And again just now, sitting in the garden listening to the woodpecker’s call and the bee’s buzz and watching the dogs watching me from the shade of the silver birch… just before writing these words.
There was a time just over 10 years ago when this enquiry wouldn’t have occurred to me even once a year, let alone three times a day. Back then my experience was infused with anxiety and chronic pain… the fuel of fear drove much of what I did or didn’t do.
But those days are long gone, so what moves me now?
It occurs to me that I made a choice around five years ago to devote myself to live from soul. Whether we call it soul, Tao, dharma, or a Crowley-esque True Will, this devotion becomes a velvet trickle in the every day moments, holds us steady through the gauntlets that have us at our edge, and magnetises us towards our North Star.
I just didn’t know it could feel like this too… a bone deep peace that somehow, paradoxically, moves me to creation.
